Morphology General Habit
Bush or small tree 1–4.5 m. tall; young branches glabrous or occasionally with a puberulous line on both sides, covered with moderately shiny light brown to buff bark.

Leaf-blades elliptic, 2–12 cm. long, 0.8–5.6 cm. wide, acuminate at apex, acute at base, papery to subcoriaceous, dull to slightly shiny above, lateral and tertiary nerves raised on both faces; domatia absent or present, glabrous; petiole 2–7 mm. long; stipules triangular, 1.5–2.5 mm. long, bearing an aristate tip, 0.5–3.5 mm. long.

Flowers 5-merous, usually 1–2 single-flowered inflorescences per axil (inflorescence-stalks up to 6 mm. long) or sometimes with fascicles of up to 5 flowers; peduncle up to 2.5 mm. long, usually with an additional common segment terminating in pedicels 1–1.5 mm. long; cupular bracteoles usually 2, the lower often with subfoliaceous lobes; small free, scale-like bracteoles usually present on the pedicels.
