Rhizomatous suffrutex, up to 0.5 m tall; stems twiggy, pubescent when young, later covered with greyish-buff bark.

Leaves clustered at apices or spread along new stems, not always fully mature at time of flowering, subsessile; blades 3.3–6.2 × 0.8–1.5 cm, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, obtuse to rounded at the apex, cuneate to narrowly cuneate at the base, pubescent above, densely silvery pubescent to tomentose beneath; lateral nerves in 5–7 main pairs; domatia absent; bacterial nodules dot-like, scattered, few or many; stipules 2–3 mm long, triangular acuminate, pubescent outside.

Inflorescences compact when young but becoming laxer with age, 0.8–1.2 cm across (excluding corollas); primary inflorescence branches 1.5–3 mm long; secondary and sometimes tertiary branches clearly present; pedicels up to 4 mm long, pubescent; bracts ± ovate, up to 2 mm long, pubescent outside, caducous. Inflorescence-supporting branches abbreviated, 2–5(7) cm long, leafless.
