Shrub or small tree; young branches glabrous, not becoming corky, angled and grooved in dry material.

Leaf-blades lanceolate or oblong-elliptic, 15–24 cm. long, 4.3–9.4 cm., wide, apex acute to acuminate, base cuneate, tending to be coriaceous, moderately shiny above, glabrous save for the puberulous prominent midrib beneath; bacterial nodules dot-like, elliptic or linear, scattered, few to several; petiole 1.6–4 cm. long, ± puberulous below, glabrous above; stipule-limb truncate, 5–7 mm. long, glabrous outside; arista 3–7 mm. long.
