Small glabrous, single- stemmed suffrutescent shrub to c. 20 cm tall from a woody rhizome, or subshrub 0.5–1 m tall.

Leaf blades 5–8.5 × 2.5–3.5 cm, elliptic or ovate, obtuse to acute or shortly acuminate or subacuminate at the apex, narrowly cuneate at the base; lateral nerves in 5–6 main pairs; tertiary nerves raised and finely reticulate beneath; domatia absent; bacterial nodules dot- like or elliptic, few scattered; petioles up to 5 mm long; stipule limbs 2–3 mm long, subtruncate with an arista c. 2 mm long, chaffy, drying pale.
