Morphology General Habit
Shrub 1–2.4 m. tall, much branched; stems glabrous to sparsely to ± densely pubescent above with spreading ferruginous hairs, the older stems dark purplish grey, ridged and lenticellate, glabrescent; branches opposite or ternate.

Leaf-blades oblong-elliptic, 2–10.5 cm. long, 0.8–4 cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, the actual acumen mostly narrowly rounded at the tip, broadly cuneate to rounded at the base, discolorous, shortly pubescent above, more densely hairy beneath, particularly on the venation with longer, softer, grey or ferruginous hairs, usually ± velvety; petiole 2–7 mm. long, densely pubesent; stipules ovate, 3–5 mm. long, ± connate, densely ferruginous pubescent outside, long pilose inside, with slightly subapical subulate appendage 3–6 mm. long, ± persistent.
