Leaf-sheaths mostly shorter than adjacent culm internode; pubescent. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate. Ligule a ciliolate membrane; 0.5 mm long. Leaf-blades straight, or curved; conduplicate; 3-10 cm long; 0.5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface pubescent.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescence a panicle; comprising 4-15 fertile spikelets; embraced at base by subtending leaf. Panicle open; oblong; 4-9 cm long; bearing few spikelets. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels 2-7 mm long; ciliate.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Spikelets
Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; subterete; 17-23 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus evident; pubescent; pungent.
Fertile
Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; subterete; 17-23 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus evident; pubescent; pungent.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Bracts Glume
Glumes persistent; similar; exceeding apex of florets; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate; 17-23 mm long; 1 length of upper glume; membranous; 1-keeled; 3 -veined. Lower glume primary vein eciliate, or ciliolate. Lower glume apex acuminate. Upper glume lanceolate; 17-23 mm long; membranous; 1-keeled; 3 -veined. Upper glume primary vein eciliate, or ciliolate. Upper glume apex acuminate.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Florets
Fertile lemma lanceolate; subterete; 7-9 mm long; coriaceous; without keel; 5 -veined. Lemma surface pilose. Lemma margins convolute; covering most of palea. Lemma hairs 1 mm long. Lemma apex dentate; 2 -fid; with lobes 1 mm long; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn from a sinus; geniculate; 21-44 mm long overall; with twisted column. Column of lemma awn 7-14 mm long; plumose. Palea 1 length of lemma; 2 -veined; without keels.
