Morphology General Habit
Perennial. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms 300-800 cm long; 15-70 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; thin-walled; 17-23 cm long; distally mealy. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement three; with subequal branches. Culm-sheaths deciduous but leaving a persistent girdle; hispid; with tawny hairs; glabrous on margins; truncate at apex; without auricles; glabrous on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule 1 mm high; dentate. Culm-sheath blade lanceolate; reflexed; 10 cm long. Leaves 7-9 per branch. Leaf-sheaths hispid. Leaf-sheath oral hairs lacking. Leaf-sheath auricles absent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 0.5 mm long. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 17-23 cm long; 15-20 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 14-18 secondary veins; with obscure cross veins. Leaf-blade surface pubescent; hairy abaxially.
