General Description
Stem scandent, green or often rusty-purplish, internodes 5-8 cm long, 6-9 mm thick. Cataphylls linear-lanceolate, 12-15 cm long, 2 cm wide. LEAVES: Petiole levelled off in front, semiterete, 25-35 cm long, 3-6 mm thick, here and there sparsely dark spotted. Blade parchment-like, oblong-sagittate or ovate-sagittate in juvenile plants, 20-30 cm long, 12-16 cm wide; posterior lobes 6-9 cm long, 5-6 cm wide, oblong obtuse, retrorse or sub-introrse, separated by a deep, parabolic sinus; anterior lobe gradually narrowing in an arcuate line towards the apex, the apex itself shortly cuspidulate, more than 2 times longer than the posterior lobes; posterior ribs separated by an acute angle, shortly denuded in the sinus, disappearing towards the apex; costal primary lateral veins 2-3 on both sides, those below the middle of the midrib emerging almost horizontally, patent, often disappearing to the side, the rest usually emerging at an obtuse angle, ascending slightly arcuately towards the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 2-3 cm long, 2-3 mm thick. Spathe almost unrolled to the base, tube externally green, internally ruddy, 3.5-5 cm long, blade dirty pale yellow on both sides, sub-flattened, broadly ovate, 6-10 cm long, 3-5 cm wide. Spadix on a 5-6 mm long stipe; female zone cylindroid, 2-3 cm long, 1-1.5 cm thick, male zone oblong obtuse, measuring 6-8 cm . Pistils ovoid-oblong, 2 mm long, almost 1 mm thick.
