Distribution
The Atherospermataceae are a small family with seven genera and c. 25 species, from New Guinea to Australia and New Zealand and Chile. In New Guinea, it is represented by one genus Dryadodaphne.
Note
It was originally placed in the Monimiaceae, and was treated within that family for Flora Malesiana.
Recognition
It is similar to the Monimiaceae in having opposite leaves but differs in the stamens dehiscing by valves.
