Biogeografic region: Amazonia, Andean, Caribbean, Orinoquia, Pacific. Elevation range: 5–3000 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Amazonas, Antioquia, Boyacá, Casanare, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Guainía, Guaviare, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Risaralda, Santander, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
