Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean, Pacific. Elevation range: 2–1150 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Chocó, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Norte de Santander, Valle del Cauca.
