Perennial; caespitose. Culms 50-80 cm long. Lateral branches lacking. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2-4 mm long; erose, or lacerate; obtuse, or acute. Leaf-blades 2-4 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scaberulous.
