Very rare in Iraq, having been recorded only once from the alpine zone of NE Iraq. Europe, N Africa, Turkey (SE Anatolia), Russia, W Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Himalaya eastwards to China and Japan; N America.
