Climbing shrub or liana 3–25 m high; trunk 1–6 cm in diameter; bark greyish brown, ± rough; branches greyish brown, with many large pale brown lenticels; branchlets densely reddish brown-pubescent.

Leaves petiolate; blade elliptic-oblong to obovate, 4–13.5 cm long, 2–6.8 cm wide, acuminate, exceptionally emarginate at the apex, rounded or cuneate at the base, with varioulsy branched hairs; domatia absent or very inconspicuous; petiole 4–12(–22) mm long, densely covered with variously branched hairs, with 1–15 glands on the adaxial side and 2(–8) glands at the base of the blade.
