Biogeografic region: Amazonia, Guiana Shield, Caribbean. Elevation range: 80–1000 m a.s.l. Cultivated in Colombia. Colombian departments: Amazonas, Antioquia, Bolívar, Caquetá, Chocó, Norte de Santander, San Andrés y Providencia, Santander, Vaupés.
