Conservation
Although the species seems to have a wide distribution, the number of known collections is very limited relative to the great number of specimens known from other Vitex species from the region. It is therefore probably a rare component of the low to mid montane rainforest of New Guinea. A conservation rating of VU, B1 (a+biii) is proposed (IUCN 2001).
