- General Description
- Plant climbing 4-10 m, Anchor roots 2 cm long. LEAVES : Petiole 5-12 cm, sheath 1/3- ½ of petiole; Blade ovate-elliptic, apex acute or acuminate, coriacious, waxy, with lateral veins invisible on the upper surface, glossy; Secretory canals longitudinal to 1 cm long and dark punctate; Blade 19-26 cm long, 6-11 cm wide. INFLORESCENCES ca. 10 per article; Peduncle 3-6 cm; Spathe 3-5.5 cm, inside yellow and orange, exterior salmon covered with a typical bluish film; Spadix 3.3-4.5 cm, maximum thickness 7 mm; Male zone 2.5-4.0 cm (of which 4-8 mm are sterile flowers), fertile flowers light orange, 3-4 grouped stamens, 1.5-2 mm broad, Sterile flowers orange on a orangeish brown spadix; Female zone 3-7 mm, ovary 2-3 mm diam., reddish brown, stigma sessile, discoid ( -1 mm diam.), white, ovary 2-locular; INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries globose, ca. 8 red-orange berries per infructescence, 1 seed per berry, infructescence dense.
