Erect completely glabrous herb up to 40 cm. tall; stem often unbranched, zigzag, deeply sulcate or winged; tendrils absent.

Leaves digitately 5–7-foliolate; petiole 3–9·5 cm. long; leaflet-lamina up to 13·5 × 3·5 cm., subsessile, narrowly obovate, apiculate at the apex, margin serrate to irregularly pinnatifid, narrowly cuneate at the base; stipules up to 6 cm. long, ovate.
