General Description
Stem abbreviated. LEAVES: Petioles of adult plants up to 80 cm long, semiterete, flat on the upper side, sheathed in the lower quarter. Blade thinly coriaceous, bright ('laete') green shortly cordate-ovate, up to 35 cm long, 25-28 cm wide; posterior lobes semi-orbicular or semi-ovate, 8-9 cm long, 10-12 cm wide, slightly introrse, separated by a narrow, deep sinus; anterior lobe three times longer than the posterior lobes, gradually narrowing towards the apex in a curved line, apex itself shortly cuspidulate. Primary lateral veins rather thick beneath, slender and fading above; 5-6 borne from the base, 2 of which are directed upwards, the remaining 3-4 are joined together shortly into a posterior rib which is not denuded; primary lateral veins 5-6 spreading from the midrib at an obtuse angle, ascending slightly arcuately towards the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle sub-terete 4 cm long, 1.5 cm thick. Spathe green reddish near the base, tube semi-open, 8-9 cm long, blade ovate-acuminate, sub-equally long as tube, 6-7 cm wide spread out. Spadix somewhat shorter than the spathe, with a short stipe; female zone shorter than the male zone.
