Morphology General Habit
Small tree 5–15 m. tall; young branches rather thick, glabrous, covered with brownish bark.

Leaf-blades broadly elliptic to round, 6–10.8 cm. long, 4–7 cm. wide, rounded to obtuse at apex, acute to obtuse at base, moderately shiny, with lateral and tertiary nerves raised on both faces; domatia glabrous to sparsely hairy; petiole 0.6–1 cm. long; stipules triangular-ovate, 3–4 mm. long, obtuse or sometimes acute.

Flowers 5-merous, 1–2(–3) per axil or rarely cauliflorous, borne singly; inflorescence-stalks up to 3 mm. long, obscured by bracteoles; bracteoles 2, the lower one usually larger than the upper one and somewhat lobed.
