General Description

A terrestrial herb. Leaves c. 6, c. 23–26 cm long, 3.9–4.2 cm wide, oblong-ligulate to slightly oblanceolate, obtuse and minutely tridentate at apex, dark green with a hyaline margin. Inflorescence 2- or 3- flowered; peduncle arching, 20–34 cm long, purple, pubescent; bracts up to 4 cm long, 1.3 cm wide, green veined with maroon. Flowers more or less glabrous, 5.9–9 cm across, 14–18 cm tall; sepals pale greenishyellow or white, strongly maroon-veined; petals pale yellow, spotted with maroon in basal half, maroon in apical half; lip pale yellow, mottled and veined purple on front of slipper; staminode yellow with purple glands; pedicel and ovary 3.5–5 cm long, green, suffused purplebrown, glabrous. Dorsal sepal arching, ovate, acuminate, 4.5–6.5 cm long, 2.3–3.5 cm wide, finely pubescent on outside. Synsepal ovate, acuminate, 5.2–7 cm long, 2.3–3.4 cm wide. Petals arcuate-dependent, lineartapering acute, 8–15 cm long, 0.7–1.1 cm wide, apically finely pubescent. Lip porrect, 3–4.7 cm long, 1.5–2.1 cm wide, grooved on back, with short acute auricles. Staminode rectangular, notched at apex, convex, on a short stalk, not covering the stigma, 8–9 mm long, 4–7 mm wide, glandular, hairy on sides. 2n = 26.
