Morphology Stem
Both deciduous and young persistent stems similar; ribs 4; scale-leaves adpressed and broadly triangular, with free part 0.3–0.4 mm. long and wide, straw-coloured.

♂ inflorescence very fine, up to 0.6 mm. diameter, axis visible between well-spaced whorls, flowers 4 per whorl, bracts coloured as leaves, free part 0.3–0.5 mm.; stigma yellowish.

Infructescence 15–22 mm. long, 15–18 mm. wide, cylindrical or depressed-ovoid; cells 5 per whorl, very widely separated by large dorsal protuberance forming 7–10 mm. of regularly and deeply muricately patterned surface; samaras very dark brown, shiny.
