- Perennial; caespitose; clumped densely. Culms 90-135 cm long. Lateral branches lacking. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 3-4(-7) mm long; entire, or lacerate; truncate. Leaf-blades convolute; 25-35 cm long; 5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scabrous; rough adaxially. Leaf-blade margins scaberulous.
