Shrub 1–3 m. tall; young stems glabrous or pubescent, with buff, fawn or light brown bark.

Leaf-blades narrowly to broadly elliptic, 4.5–12 cm. long, 1.2–6 cm. wide, acute to shortly acuminate at apex, acute or sometimes cuneate at base, papery to subcoriaceous, dull or sometimes slightly shiny above; lateral nerves apparent and tertiary nerves obscure to apparent on both faces; domatia small, glabrous to sparsely pubescent; petioles 2–6 mm. long; stipule-limbs triangular, distinctly aristate, 3–5.5 mm. long altogether.

Flowers 5–6-merous, usually individually borne in upper leaf-axils (often including apical axil), 1–2(–3) per axil; inflorescence-stalks not exceeding 2 mm.; upper bracteoles sometimes with free lobes, but often hidden inside lower cupular bracteoles; lower bracteoles 1–2 mm. long, often producing spathulate or sometimes linear-aristate lobes 1–2.5 mm. long.
