Annual herb 15-45 cm tall, slender and unbranched except for the inflorescence; stems erect, spongy, reddish proximally, sparsely shortly ascending-strigose, sparsely glandular.

Leaves alternate, sessile, olive green, slightly fleshy, linear, 1-4.5 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, obtuse, shortly ascending-strigose on margins and mid-rib beneath, glandular.
