Stems radiating from the thickened rootstock, themselves becoming woody below, up to 12–40 cm. long, puberulous or shortly pubescent with short curved hairs, and also with ± numerous longer spreading ones.

Leaves narrowly oblong to linear-oblong, 1.2–3.5(–4) cm. long, ± 0.5–0.8(–1.3) cm. wide; gland at or near top of petiole, sessile, circular or elliptic, flattened or convex on upper side, 0.25–1 mm. long, 0.25–0.6 mm. wide, brown to blackish-purple when dry, said to be yellowish when living; rhachis eglandular, channelled but not crenate-crested along upper side; leaflets sessile, in 6–28 pairs, obliquely oblong, somewhat falcate above, 2.5–5(–8) mm. long, 0.5–1 (–1.5) mm. wide, acute and mucronate, glabrous on upper surface, glabrous or with a few scattered hairs on lower, ciliate on margins; midrib somewhat excentric (towards anticous margin); lateral nerves slightly raised beneath, those on anticous side of midrib few and obscure or absent.
