Spreading and pendent shrub to 2 m., flowering mostly on relatively short lateral branches; branchlets slightly flattened, velvety with very short spreading branched hairs.

Leaves subopposite; petiole 5–10 mm. long; lamina slightly fleshy, linear-lanceolate to ovate or oblong-elliptic, 5–10 cm. long, 1.5–8 cm. wide, acute to obtuse at the apex, cuneate to rounded or cordate at the base, puberulous (more densely along midrib), ultimately glabrescent, with 4–6 pairs of spreading-ascending main lateral nerves.
