Ecology
Altitude range 100–600 m. The spherical shape of the fruiting calyx in this species is apparently an adaptation to wind dispersal.
Note
Two forms occur, one with broadly elliptic, pink bracts and one with narrowly elliptic or lanceolate, often greenish bracts.
