Ecology

On karst limestone hills in Keteleeria davidiana dominated forest; 850–900 m elevation.

General Description

A small lithophytic herb with clustered growths. Leaves 3–4(5), coriaceous-fleshy, subsucculent, oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, tridenticulate at obtuse apex, 4–12 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, green with paler yellowish white margin, 4–12 cm long, 1–2 cm wide, dark green with paler yellowish green margin. Inflorescence arching to subhorizontal, one-flowered; peduncle 4–6.5 cm long, shortly and densely dark purple pubescent; bract conduplicate, ovate to elliptic, obtuse, 8–12 mm long, 3–4 mm wide. Flower large for plant, pubescent on outer surface of sepals; dorsal sepal golden yellow with a white margin; synsepal white; petals and lip ochreous yellow with darker veins; staminode pale yellow with a darker shiny central boss; pedicel and ovary 2–3.5 cm long, densely dark purple pubescent. Dorsal sepal obovate-subcircular, obtuse, 18–35 mm long, 15–30 mm wide, side margins reflexed, apical margin somewhat incurved; synsepal ovate-elliptic, obtuse, 15–25 mm long, 8–15 mm wide. Petals straight to somewhat incurved, ligulate to subspatulate, obtuse or truncate at apex, 28–35 mm long, ciliate, slightly pubescent at base on inner surface. Lip deeply saccate, not tapering much in apical part, 20–30 mm long, 15–20 mm wide, glabrous on outer surface; side lobes inflexed, not warted. Column 5–6 mm long; stamniode broadly obovate to subcircular, 7–8 mm long and wide, papillose with a central raised boss.
