Morphology Twigs
Twig c. 2 mm diam., terete, pale brown
Morphology Leaves
Leaf blade 12 - 17 x 5.5 - 7 cm, ovate, thinly coriaceous, drying purplish brown beneath, glistening mauve-brown above, without pits above more or less papillose beneath; base obtuse, petiole c. 4 mm long slender drying black; apex 1.5 cm caudate; veins unequal, main veins c. 15 pairs each with 1 - 3 shorter intermediates, very slender, slightly raised throughout, most so beneath, as also the tertiaries; intramarginal vein c. 2 mm within margin, hardly arched
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Panicle terminal, 3 cm long, 2-branched, terete

Sarawak

On limestone karst, at low altitude. At G. Subis it was recorded as among boulders on a slope.
Note
This species, only known from the Sarawak limestone where it occurs on rocky slopes, belongs to the jambu group; but its flowers are uncharacteristically small, while its ovate leaf blade with slender petiole is also distinctive.

Morphology General Habit
Subcanopy tree 5 m tall Parts glabrous
Morphology Twigs
Twig 1 - 2 mm diam., slender, terete, pale brown
Morphology Leaves
Leaf blade 9- 17 x 4- 8 cm, oblong, thin, drying pink-brown, slightly glistening obscurely pitted above, dull and obscurely papillose beneath; base obtuse, abruptly terminating at 3 mm long 2 mm diam. short black drying petiole; shortly acuminate; veins unequal, main veins c. 12 pairs, spreading, somewhat unequally spaced with many shorter intermediate veins, slender but distinctly raised beneath, distinct but hardly raised above, as also the tertiary veins; intramarginal veins 1 - 2 mm within margin, slightly arched
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescence 3 cm long, racemose, axillary, with 2 mm long narrowly triangular bracts
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers
Flower bud 5 x 3 mm, shortly club shaped, tapering into indistinct c. 2 mm long pseudostalk; calyx lobes 4, c. 2 x 2 mm, ovate, broad, hyaline, clasping with corolla only exposed at apex.
Distribution
Knowni from the single collection, from W Sarawak
Ecology
On a karst limestone hill.
Note
Apparently a member of the jambu group, the flower buds are unusually small, and too young on the only collection to establish their full character. The leaf shape and venation can alone distinguish the species.
