Perennial; caespitose; clumped densely. Butt sheaths coriaceous; glossy; persistent and investing base of culm. Culms erect; 6-40 cm long; 1-2 -noded. Culm-internodes smooth. Lateral branches lacking. Leaf-sheaths smooth; glabrous on surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2-10 mm long; acute. Leaf-blades curved; filiform; involute; 1-12 cm long; 0.6-1.3 mm wide; stiff. Leaf-blade surface ribbed; grooved adaxially; smooth; glabrous.
