Morphology General Habit
Upright, polycarpic plant to 7 m tall, with trunk to 35 cm in diameter; pith to 2 cm in diameter; stem with lax leaf-rosettes of 15–25 leaves, with little internode elongation, covered with retained leaf-bases for 1–2 m below the leaf-rosettes.
Growth
Repeated reproduction and branching yields a sprawling, open canopy with up to 10–30 aerial meristems in mature trees.

Leaf lamina elliptic, to 113 cm long and 34 cm wide, hair cushion weakly to strongly developed on upper leaf-base, lower surface glabrous or sparsely pubescent, villose along lower midvein.
