Descriptions

Morphology General Habit
Annual; caespitose. Culms erect, or geniculately ascending; 4.5-15 cm long; 2-3 -noded. Culm-internodes terete, or elliptical in section; distally glabrous. Culm-nodes glabrous. Lateral branches ample. Leaf-sheaths loose; mostly shorter than adjacent culm internode. Ligule a fringe of hairs; 0.5 mm long. Leaf-blades conduplicate, or involute, or convolute; 2-3 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface hispid; with simple hairs, or tubercle-based hairs. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescence a panicle. Peduncle pilose above. Panicle open; oblong; 3-6 cm long; 1-4 cm wide. Panicle branches pilose; glabrous in axils, or bearded in axils; with prominent pulvini. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels 3-6 mm long.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Spikelets
Spikelets comprising 2 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets ovate; laterally compressed; compressed slightly; 1.5-1.8 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus 0.2-0.3 mm long; bearded; acute.
Fertile
Spikelets comprising 2 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets ovate; laterally compressed; compressed slightly; 1.5-1.8 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus 0.2-0.3 mm long; bearded; acute.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Bracts Glume
Glumes persistent; similar; reaching apex of florets; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate; 1.5-1.8 mm long; 1 length of upper glume; membranous; much thinner on margins; without keels; 3 -veined. Lower glume lateral veins ribbed. Lower glume surface hispidulous; with simple hairs, or tubercle-based hairs. Lower glume apex acuminate. Upper glume lanceolate; 1.5-1.8 mm long; 1 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; with hyaline margins; without keels; 3 -veined. Upper glume lateral veins ribbed. Upper glume surface hispidulous; with simple hairs, or tubercle-based hairs. Upper glume apex acuminate.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Florets
Fertile lemma elliptic; laterally compressed; 1.3-1.8 mm long; membranous; without keel; 3 -veined. Lemma lateral veins obscure. Lemma surface glabrous. Lemma margins involute; ciliate; hairy all along. Lemma apex acute; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn 3.5-5.5 mm long overall. Palea 6 mm long; 2 -veined. Palea surface scaberulous; glabrous, or pilose; hairy on back; hairy below. Palea apex entire, or dentate; 2 -fid.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers
Lodicules 2. Anthers 3; 0.2 mm long.
