Descriptions

Morphology General Habit
Perennial; mat forming. Stolons present. Culms prostrate; 15-30 cm long; rooting from lower nodes. Culm-nodes pubescent. Ligule a ciliolate membrane. Leaf-blades floating; 4-6 cm long; 2-4 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scaberulous.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences
Inflorescence composed of racemes. Racemes 15-20; borne along a central axis; ascending, or spreading; 2.5-3 cm long; bearing 1 spikelet, or few fertile spikelets; bearing 1-3 fertile spikelets on each. Central inflorescence axis 5-12 cm long. Rhachis angular; scabrous on margins; terminating in a barren extension; extension bristle-like; extension 10-15 mm long. Spikelet packing abaxial. Spikelets appressed; solitary. Fertile spikelets sessile.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Spikelets
Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; dorsally compressed; 8-10 mm long; falling entire.
Fertile
Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; dorsally compressed; 8-10 mm long; falling entire.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Inflorescences Bracts Glume
Glumes dissimilar; exceeding apex of florets; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume oblate; 1 mm long; 0.1 length of spikelet; hyaline; without keels; 0 -veined. Lower glume lateral veins absent. Lower glume apex obtuse. Upper glume elliptic; 1 length of spikelet; membranous; without keels; 7-9 -veined. Upper glume surface scabrous. Upper glume margins eciliate, or ciliolate. Upper glume apex attenuate; awned; 1 -awned. Upper glume awn 1-10 mm long.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers Florets
Basal sterile florets male; with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret elliptic; 7-8 mm long; 0.8 length of spikelet; membranous; attenuate; awned. Awn of lower sterile floret 1-5 mm long. Palea of lower sterile floret 0.5 length of lemma. Fertile lemma oblong; 2.5-3 mm long; cartilaginous; without keel. Lemma margins flat. Lemma apex acute. Palea 1 length of lemma; cartilaginous; without keels.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Flowers
Anthers 3.
Morphology Reproductive morphology Fruits
Caryopsis with adherent pericarp; ovoid; 1.5 mm long.
